How our dream to build luxury holiday cottages became a reality
The dream for the owners, qualified electrician Tony Gill and his son Bobby, started back in 2013 when he found and purchased Hoxne Farm with a disused old cattery building.
With his love for property, Tony thought this would be a fantastic opportunity for him and his son to embark upon their property development journey while also providing luxury accommodation for people visiting York.
Having researched the holiday accommodation sector, Tony thought Strensall would provide the ideal base for guests to not only explore the beautiful countryside but also visit the historic city of York.
Shortly after buying the property, plans to demolish the disused cattery buildings to create four luxury holiday cottages came together.
His thought process throughout the design stages centred around providing a modern contemporary feel complete with all the mod cons a guest could wish for during their stay, including hot tubs within the private outdoor spaces.
From the initial design right through to welcoming their first guests, both Tony and Bobby thoroughly enjoyed the entire process of developing Hoxne Cottages.
Sunflower Cottage was the flagship property opening in 2016, followed by Daisy Cottage in 2018 and then Poppy Cottage and Rose Cottage, which were completed post-pandemic in 2021.
Tony and the team at Hoxne Cottages pride themselves on customer service – nothing is too much trouble. Their commitment to ensuring their guests have the best possible experience has led to them achieving the Customer Choice Award year-on-year, putting Hoxne Cottages in the top 15% of 30,000 holiday properties in the UK.
